Nail of the Day: Maybelline NYC Burgundy Kiss

Hola a todos! Cómo están? Como ya empezó el otoño (y aunque me rehuso a dejar de usar mis colores brillantes y pasteles) pensé que sería buena idea usar un pintauñas en un color un poco más oscuro, un tono tipo vino tinto. A mi me parece que este tipo de colores hacen que las uñas (y el look en general) se vean más elegante, más sobrio, es un toque chic instantáneo a cualquier outfit. Entonces, el color que compré este fin de semana pasado es el tono 357 Burgundy Kiss, de Maybelline NYC.

Hello everyone! How are you? Fall is already here (and even though I refuse to let go of my favorite bright/pastel colors of this past summer) so I thought it would be a good idea to choose a darker, richer kind of red nail polish. I personally love dark colors, I just feel like they give nails (and your overall look) a more refined, elegant vibe, it's like a quick, chic touch to any outfit. So over the weekend I picked up this one by Maybelline NYC, the shade 357 Burgundy Kiss.

Como pueden ver, es un tono como borgoña, en la foto de aquí arriba se ve un poco más claro pero en realidad es bastante oscuro, de lejos incluso puede parecer negro. La consistencia es bastante buena, el color es matte y no tiene nada de brillos. Yo apliqué dos capas porque si usaba solo una, el color no quedaba parejo. Aparte de eso no me dio ningún problema, se secó rápido y quedó muy saturado el color.

As you can see, it is a rich burgundy color, in the photo above it appears to be lighter, but is actually pretty dark, it even looks kind of black if you see it from a distance. The formulation was really good, it's a matte color, not shimmery at all. I did two coats, cause just one didn't look completely even. Besides that, this was very smooth, it dried fast and the result was great.

En las fotos hasta parece un poco como chocolate oscuro. Es un color perfecto para el otoño, lo recomiendo bastante y se puede encontrar en cualquier supermercado o farmacia. Por 30 pesos fue una muy buena compra! :)

It almost looks like a dark chocolate here in these pics. It's a perfect shade for fall, I highly recommend it and the good thing is that you can find it at any drugstore, and for 2.5 dls this was a great buy! :)

Nail of the day - Owls

Hola! Una de las cosas que me gusta estar probando constantemente es esmaltes para uñas, y no discrimino! Si hay un color bonito que me gusta, lo compro, aunque tenga algunos parecidos, o aunque sean de marcas desconocidas o de supermercado, después de todo no son caros y hay mucha variedad. He visto muchos videos y posts de este tipo y quise hacer uno con el diseño que me hice esta semana: Uñas con búhos. 

Vi este diseño en Pinterest (si aún no tienen una cuenta, se los recomiendo, es muy entretenido pero también Muy adictivo jeje) y se me hizo muy lindo y (aparentemente) fácil, así que decidí intentarlo.

Hello! One of the things I enjoy doing is constantly trying different nail polish: If there is a pretty color that I like, I buy it even though I might have similar colors or even if they are by unknown or supermarket brands, after all they're not expensive and you can find a great color variety. I've seen lots of nail posts and videos and decided to do one with the nail design that I wore this week: owl nails. 

I saw this design on Pinterest (if you don't have an account, I highly recommend it, it's so entertaining but also Very addictive!) and thought it was really cute and (apparently) easy, so why not give it a try.

Pues como verán, se veía bastante sencillo y lo único que necesitaba eran las calcomanías redondas que se usan para proteger las hojas en las carpetas (las venden en cualquier tienda de papelería, yo las comprè en OfficeMax por $29 pesos). Elegí los colores que quería y estaba lista para empezar.

As you can see, it looked pretty simple and all I needed was the little round stickers that you use to protect the sheets when you use a binder (you can find them at any office supply store, I bought them at OfficeMax for $2 dollars). So I chose the colors I wanted and I was all set.

Como les decía, compro cualquier esmalte que me guste no importa dónde lo encuentre jeje El blanco lo compré en Wal Mart, no conozco la marca pero la verdad es que como casi no uso el blanco, lo compré porque estaba barato pero ahora necesito uno mejor porque no me gustó mucho el acabado y siento que tarda mucho en secarse. El azul marino es de una tienda llamada Réserve Naturelle y el nombre no lo puedo leer muy bien en la etiqueta pero es una especie de azul marino cremoso, no es metálico ni muy brilloso. El azul claro es de NYX Girls y el color es Pistachio aunque la verdad no se ve para nada como pistache pero asi se llama, y el negro es 677 de Maybelline MNY, el cual es el clásico negro brilloso.

Entonces, quieren ver el resultado? :P

As I said before, I would buy any nail polish that I like no matter where I found it lol! The white one I got it at Wal Mart, I don't know the brand but since I don't use white a lot, I got it cause it was cheap but now I kind of regret it because the finish wasn't very good, it's not smooth and takes a lot to dry. The navy blue one is by Réserve Naturelle and I can`t really read the name of the color on the sticker but it's kind of a creamy navy blue, not metallic or shinny. The next is Pistachio by NYX Girls and as you can see it looks nothing like pistachio but hey, that's the name, and lastly, 677 by Maybelline MNY, which is your classic shinny black polish.

Jajajajaja este no es el resultado que estaba esperando! Sobra decir que no parecen búhos, algunos los llamaron pingüinos, otros Angry Birds... Creo que, a menos que seas muy cuidadosa y paciente, es un poco dificil que quede igual que en la foto. Tendré que apegarme a diseños mas simples! jeje Si lo intentan, diganme cómo les quedaron!

This was NOT the result I was hoping for!  :P Needles to say, they don't look like owls, some people called them penguins, some said they look like Angry Birds... My recommendation is that, unless you are very neat and patient, it is a little more difficult than it looks in the picture. Maybe I'll stick to simpler designs!
