Beauty Review: L.A. Colors Mineral Blush

Hola a todos! Hoy les quiero hablar acerca de un rubor (mas bien dos) que compré este fin de semana en un centro comercial local. Es un Mineral Blush de la marca L.A. Colors, en los tonos Natural y Coral.

Hello everyone! Today I wanna talk about this blush (well actually, two) that I bought this weekend at a local mall. It is the Mineral Blush by L.A. Colors, the shades: Naturale and Coral.

Según lo que veo y me ha tocado escuchar, L.A. Cosmetics está medio olvidada por el mundo del bloggueo ya que es considerada como de no muy buena calidad; sus productos los puedes encontrar, en Estados Unidos, en tiendas tipo Dollar Store, Dollar Tree, y al menos a mi no me ha tocado ver un stand en alguna farmacia o supermercado. 

Yo el rubor lo compré en una pequeña tienda que vende muchos productos de importación, generalmente muy baratos y claro, muchos de poca calidad, pero como la tienda estaba cerrando todo estaba con 50% de descuento y tuve que entrar jeje al ver que este rubor es mineral, me intirgó un poco y como la verdad estaba muy barato (30 pesos, como 2.5 dls) decidí llevarme dos.

As far as I'm concerned, for what I've heard or read, L.A. Cosmetics doesn't get talked about much in the blogging world since it's considered more like a cheap brand. In the US, at least, you can find it at the Dollar Store or Dollar Tree, and I've never seen an L.A. Colors stand in any drugstore or beauty store.

I got this blush at a little store that sells a lot of imported cosmetics, generally at a very low cost and, of course, the quality is not the best, but since the store was closing, everything was 50% off and I couldn't resist to take a look, and when I saw this Mineral blush, I gotta say I was a little intrigued and I mean, for 30 pesos (like 2.5 dls), I took these two home with me.

La verdad, tengo que decir que este rubor me sorprendió. Viene en una gran variedad de tonos (29) y varian en la pigmentación. Los que yo elegí son más bien poco pigmentados, con un brillo muy sutil y siento que iluminan y captan la luz bastante bien. Se sienten un poco como bronceadores en el sentido de que te da  esa sensación de que te fuiste a asolear, pero no tan marcado, más bien como color con un poco de iluminador. Y también a su favor debo decir que la pequeña brochita que trae (junto con su espejo) es de cerdas muy suaves y funciona muy bien si lo quieres traer en la bolsa y darte un pequeño retoque. Yo normalmente las tiro y uso mi brocha de rubor normal, pero ésta si me la quedé porque me gustó bastante :)

Siento que ahora las marcas, incluso las low cost, se están "poniendo las pilas" y han mejorado bastante, y puedes encontrar productos de buena calidad a precios muy accesibles, y con estos tiempos, uno tiene que cuidar la cartera y hacer rendir el dinero!

I gotta say that this little guy really surprised me. It comes in a wide range of shades (29) and it varies from highly to lightly pigmented. These ones are lightly pigmented, with a subtle shimmer, and they do help your face look brighter. They feel a little like bronzers in the way that it gives you a little of that I-just-went-to-the-beach look, but not too strong, more like color with a little highlighter. And I also have to give props to the little brush that comes with the package, it is surprisingly soft and works great if you wanna do a little touch up on the go. I normally toss them out and use my blush brush (try saying that 3 times fast :P), but this one is a keeper ;)

I feel that nowadays, low cost beauty brands are stepping out their game and have come up with quality products at affordable prices, and in these tough economic times, you have to make the most for your money!

Lo único malo que tengo que decir es que el rubor es un poco suelto, tal vez por que es mineral...?; no mucho pero cuando pones la brocha como que salen volando un poco, pero fuera de eso, fue una buena compra :) Y a ustedes cómo les gusta el rubor: mineral, muy pigmentado, suelto? 

The one bad thing I have to say about it is that it is not as nicely packed as others, maybe cause it's mineral...?; It's not completely loose but there is some powder flying around when you apply it. But other than that, it was a great find. :) How do you guys prefer your blush: mineral, highly pigmented, loose?

Outfit of the weekend: 15 & 16 Sept.

Hola a todos! :D Como les comentaba en el post anterior, este fin se festejó en México el Día de Independencia, comúnmente comnocido como El Grito, y es la fecha que marca el comienzo de la guerra de independencia; nuestro país se volvió una república federal algunos añitos después. Pero como bien sabrán, a los mexicanos nos encanta un pretexto para celebrar jajaja y este día no es la excepción. Se preparan platillos típicos y los hogares y calles se decoran con los colores patrios, y en cada ciudad hay una fiesta alusiva a esta fecha.

Esta fecha coincide con el cumpleaños de una de mis mejores amigas así que ella quiso que fuéramos a un antro a celebrar su cumple. A mi se me antojaba usar algo que hiciera referencia a esta fecha pero no tan literal, por lo que opté por comprar una tela que de seguro han visto, llamada rebozo, y hacerme una falda con ella. Aquí las mujeres la usaban como complemento a su atuendo; en la actualidad ya no se usa tanto, mas bien lo usas cuando quieres hacer alusión a un traje típico mexicano. Aunque también muchas mujeres lo usan para cargar a sus bebés.

Hi everyone! As I told you on my previous post, this weekend was Independence Day here in México, also known as El Grito, and it marks the beginning of the Mexican war of Independence; Mexico's independence from Spain was effectively declared almost ten years later. But as many of you already know, we barely need an excuse to celebrate hahaha and this day is no exception. People prepare traditional food, many homes and pretty much every main street are decorated with green, white and red, and there's a massive party in almost each city of the country.

This day is also one of my best friend's birthday so she wanted to go to this club called Velvet. I was down for wearing something very patriotic but not in an obvious way, so what I decided to do was buy this fabric that I'm sure you've all seen, called rebozo, and make a mini skirt. Women here used to wear it as protection from wind and sun; now days you don't see it that much, at least not in the streets but more like when you wanna wear something very traditional. You might also see it as a baby sling.

Entonces, después de este pequeña clase de historia jajaja les dejo el outfit que usé ese día.

So, after this little history lesson hahaa this is the outfit that I wore that day.

jajaja perdón que las últimas fotos ya no salen tan bien pero ya era medio tarde jeje Que les pareció? Me encantó como quedó la falda, muy bonita y más sutil que llevarla en los hombros. La blusa y los zapatos son de una boutique local, y los accesorios son de varias tiendas, nada muy elegante! Ahh y después de todo, aquí es donde terminaron mis zapatos jajajaa

I'm sorry for these last photos hahaha but it was kind of late :P So what do you think of the skirt? I love how it turned out, very pretty but still a little more subtle than wearing the fabric around my shoulders. The blouse and shoes are from local boutiques, and some accessories from different stores, nothing fancy! Oh and here's where my shoes ended that night lol!

Outfit of the day: Sep 14

Hola a todos! Pues aquí en México el calor nomás no se va, así que podemos seguir usando nuestros outfits con faldas, shorts, sandalias, etc., y como ayer fue viernes, usé algo relajado y muy cómodo :)

Para variarle un poco, decidí intentar algo diferente con mi cabello y hacerme dos trenzas a cada lado de la cabeza (una detrás de cada oreja) y usarlas como diademas, asegurándolas con bobby pins. Está súper sencillo y se ve muy lindo!

Hello everyone! Well here in México, the hot weather just won't go away, so we can keep wearing skirts, shorts, sandals, etc., and since yesterday was friday, I went for something comfy and laid back. :)

To switch things up, I decided to do something different with my hair and do two braids, one at each side of my head (behind each ear), then lift them and wrap them on the top of my head as hair bands, and secure them with some bobby pins. It's super easy and looks really cute!

La blusa es de H&M, la compré el año pasado. Los shorts y el cinto que me encantó por el detallito del moñito son de Forever 21. Las sandalias las compré en Ross (que como les platicaba, buscando uno encuentra cosas bonitas! :P). Los accesorios los he ido comprando en varias tiendas... Una nunca puede tener demasiados accesorios! O cualquier artículo de belleza o moda, la verdad.

The shirt is from H&M, I got it last year.. The shorts and the belt with the cute little bow are from Forever 21. The shoes I found them at Ross (as I said before, if you look around you can find pretty stuff! :P). The accesories are from different shops ot boutiques... A girl can never have too many accesories! Or anything beauty or fashion related for that matter :P

Este fin de semana es Día de la Independencia en México (o tambièn conocido como el Grito), así que en los próximos posts espero traerles un look muy patriótico pero con algo diferente... Espero les guste!

Perfume of the day: Beyonce's Heat Rush

Hola a todos! Hoy les cuento del perfume que estoy usando ahora, que la compré hace poco y me ha gustado mucho.

Ahora que empezaba el verano, se me antojaba un perfume que se sintiera fresco para el clima caluroso, así que me di a la tarea de ir a una que otra tienda departamental y explorar las opciones que tenían, habiendo hecho una pequeña investigación antes en internet para tener algunos nombres en mente. Como me gusta leer y aprender de los diferentes aromas y no solo los nombres de las marcas, buscaba algo que fuera ligero, fresco y muy frutal, y así empecé con mi búsqueda.

Debo confesar algo, y sé que probablemente esté equivocada, pero normalmente no me atraen los perfumes de celebridades. Automáticamente pienso que van a oler un tanto "baratos" o no muy finos, y sé que estoy pre juzgando pero, qué le hago! Entonces al andar buscando y que me encuentro con el perfume de Beyonce, Heat Rush, de entrada lo dudo un poco, pero en cuanto lo huelo, quedo encantada.

Hello everyone! Today I'm gonna talk to you about the fragrance that I recently bought and the one I'm wearing right now. So far I can say that I've really really liked it.

At the beginning of summer, I kind of felt that I wanted a new perfume that was still fresh in this hot weather, so I visited some beauty stores and went through the different options they had (before this, I did a little research on the web so that I would have some names in mind). As I enjoy reading and learning about different fragrances, not just the brand or designer, I wanted something light, fresh and very fruity, and then started looking.

I must confess this, and I know I might be wrong, but normally, I find that I'm not very attracted to celebrity perfumes. I automatically think that they will smell a little "cheap" or not too nice, and I know that I'm prejudging but I can't help to feel that way! So when I was at the mall, I found Heat Rush by Beyonce; I was a bit reluctant at first, but as soon as I smelled it, I was pretty happy :)

El perfume salió en 2010, y según su descripción, las principales notas o notas de cabeza (que son las primeras que sientes al oler el perfume), son naranja sanguina (de la cual nunca había oido hablar; es otro tipo de naranja un poco más dulce que la común), cereza y maracuyá. También tiene notas florales de fondo y notas de salida como musk y ambar. Yo lo que más siento es la naranja, sé que es difícil explicar el olor pero se siente muy tropical y dulce al mismo tiempo (pero no empalagoso). Siento que se queda bastante tiempo en mi piel y eso es algo que siempre busco en un perfume

This was released in 2010, and according to the description, its top notes (the ones you get when you first smell it) are blood orange (which I had never heard of; it's a bit sweeter than the regular orange), cherry and passion fruit. It also has floral middle notes, as well as musk and amber as the base notes. The one that I get the most is orange, and I know it is difficult trying to explain a scent but it feels very tropical if you could say, but still sweet (but not too sweet). I find that it stays very long on my skin and that is something I always look for in a perfume.

Yo me compré la versión que viene con una loción con ligeros brilliros de 75 ml., un gel de ducha de 75 ml., y una versión pequeña de 15 ml. que a mi me encantó porque así lo puedo traer en la bolsa sin preocupaciones ;) El hecho de que venga con todos estos extras hace que el olor se quede mas tiempo en tu piel.

Lo malo que tengo que decir del perfume es que... es dificil agarrar la botella para aplicarte el perfume! Ya sé que suena raro pero así me pasa jajaja tengo que agarrarlo con una mano y aplastar el botoón con la otra... O tal vez lo estoy haciendo mal! ajajaja

I personally got the gift set that comes with a 75 ml. simmering body cream, a 75 ml. shower gel, and a 15 ml. version that I just loved because I can carry it in my purse and do a little touch up whenever I want to ;) The fact that the set includes all this extras makes the scent stay longer on your skin.

The one bad thing about it is that... it's kind of difficult to grab the bottle and apply it! lol I know that sounds random or weird but that happens to me, and I have to grab it with one hand and press it with the other so that I can apply it... Or maybe I'm doing it the wrong way! hahaha

Hola! :) Decidí hacer este post porque: 1) me encanta verlos en youtube/blogs, 2) quería comprarme un nuevo rimel y 3) en el supermercado todos los cosméticos tenían el 30% de descuento y no podía desaprovechar jajaja así que me hice de varias cositas que me hicieron ojitos y otras que ya quería comprar desde hacía rato.

Hello! I decided to do this post for various reasons: 1) I love watching these videos on youtube/blogs, 2) I wanted to buy a new mascara, and 3) all makeup at the drugstore was 30% off so I couldn't resist, and I got a few things that caught my eye and some that wanted to buy a while ago.

Lo que en realidad necesitaba era el polvo Studio Fix de MAC, y el rimel One by One de Maybelline había oído muy buenos reviews y decidí probarlo. Empezaré por éstos.

Sé que todo el mundo recomienda el polvo Studio Fix de MAC y no había tenido la oportunidad de probarlo, y ahora entiendo el porqué de los comentarios, tiene muy buena cobertura y no se siente como talco en tu cara, ni da aspecto falso. Se ve natural y también tiene una amplia variedad de colores lo que lo hace conveniente si no quieres verte como un fantasma porque el color que te gusta es muy claro y el que sigue, muy oscuro. Estoy muy contenta con los resultados, yo tengo una zona T un poco grasa y este polvo no siento que me deje brillosa esa zona.

What I really needed was the Studio Fix by MAC, and I had heard really good reviews about the One by One mascara by Maybelline and decided to give it a try. I'll start with those two.

I know that everybody is in love with this powder foundation by MAC and I hadn't had the chance to try it, and know I understand the hype, it has really good coverage and it doesn't feel chalky at all. Looks very natural and the fact that it has a large variety of shades makes it very convenient when you don't want to look like a ghost  because the shade you liked is too light and the next one, too dark. I'm really happy with the results, I tend to have an oily T zone and I don't feel like this pressed powder makes this zone extra oily.

Ahora el rimel. Aquí estoy muy, MUY decepcionada. Había visto muchos videos en youtube donde hablaban maravillas del One by One de Maybelline, se supone que alarga y da volumen, y cuando lo compré estaba muy emocionada porque en especial el rimel es algo sin lo cual no puedo salir por las mañanas.

So, the mascara... I am very Very disappointed. I had seen a lot of videos of girls talking and raving about the wonders that One by One by Maybelline does, it's supposed to be lengthening and volumizing, so when I got it I was very excited because mascara, specially, is one of the things I can't go out without in the morning.

Yo siempre me enchino las pestañas porque normalmente las tengo como tejabán, aquí les pongo una foto de cómo se ven cuando las enchino.

I always have to curl my lashes cause if I don't they look flat as hell. Here's a photo.

Bueno no sé ustedes pero a mi me gusta que con el rimel las pestañas me queden largas pero rizadas. Al usar One by One, instantáneamente sentí el producto muy pesado y cómo bajaba mis pestañas. Si bien sí alarga, no me gustó el resultado. Lo único que me gustó fue el cepillito, que no es mucho decir jeje

I don't know about you guys but when I buy a mascara, I hope that my lashes will be longer but still curly. When using One by One, it instantly feels that the product is too heavy on them, and they become stubbornly straight. Even if they look a bit longer, the result just didn't work for me. The thing I did like was the brush, but that's not saying much :P

Ahora vamos con los esmaltes. Los tonos que compré fueron 480 Chic y 310 Timeless, de Revlon, y Caribbean Frost, de Wet n Wild. Los dos de Revlon me llamaron la atención en cuanto los vi, ya que no tenía esos tonos y quería algo que vaya bien para el otoño y estos dos tienen una especie de look sucio o de lodo o así se me hacen! Caribbean Frost se me hizo muy alegre y para el verano. Ya lo quiero usar! Usé los dos de Revlon y tienen una aplicación muy suave (una sola capa). Éstos fueron los resultados! :)

Now lets move on to the nail polish. The ones I got were 480 Chic and 310 Timless by Revlon, and Caribbean Frost by Wet n Wild. The Revlon ones caught my eye I soon as I saw them, since I was looking for a those colors and wanted something suited for fall and those two have a muddy, dirty look to them. Caribbean Frost looks so cheerful and summery. Can't wait to try it! I already wore the first two and they went on really smooth (just 1 coat), and here's the result!

Y finalmente, los labiales. El primero es Color Sensational de Maybelline en el tono 515 Coral Crush, es un rojo/naranja con un poco más pigmentos y también hidrata. El segundo es de L'oreal, el color es 06 Aphrodite Scarlet, éste es un poco más ligero, te deja un ligero brillo rosa y puedes aplicar más para un color más intenso.

And finally, lipstick. The first one is Color Sensational by Maybelline, 515 Coral Crush, and it's kind of a pinky/orangym more pigmented color but also moisturizes. The second one is by L'oreal, 06 Aphrodite Scarlet, this one is a little bit lighter, it gives your a shimmery pink tint and you can build up the color for a more intense look.

Ahh y casi se me olvidaba! Compré esta cinta para (intentar) hacerme algún diseño interesante para las uñas jeje alguna recomendación? :P

Oh and I almost forgot! I bought this rally thin tape so I can (try to) do a cool nail design... Any suggestions? :P
