Maybelline review: Color tattoo 24 hr eye shadow

Hello everyone! How are you beauties? Thank god it's Friday! This week went on pretty fast and our beloved weekend is here, so that means more time to do some reviews of several products I bought over the past few days. As for today, I'm having mixed feelings about this eye shadow...

Normally, I try to talk about products that I actually like, but this eye shadow in particular, did not live up to my expectations. I know the hype and all the wonders all the girls claim about this miraculous thing (maybe that's the reason why I was expecting more), but I wanna give you my honest opinion, in case it might be helpful when deciding to buy or not this particular shade.  A little disclaimer: I don't think this product is actually bad, I just wanna share with you how I feel about it.

This past spring, Maybelline launched its Color Tattoo 24 HR line, which consisted on 10 cream gel eye shadows in 10 different colors, half of them were vibrant colors like teal and purple, and the other half were neutrals, like beige and bronze. Although at first, my eyes and hands tend to go for the brighter colors, reality sinks in and realize that I wouldn't wear them as much, and so decided to go for a neutral one, called "Tough as Taupe".

To me, the little pot looks more high end and elegant than the usual Maybelline products, it looks more expensive than it really is. And I also like the fact that the bottom is transparent so you can see the actual color. It has a creamy consistency, but not too soft, feels a little bit like butter. As you can see in the photo, the cream is highly pigmented, and in the photo you can't appreciate it but it has some brown/purple undertones.

Now, what I didn't like is how it looks once you apply it on your eyelid. Well it's not so much that I didn't like it, its just that it didn't do anything special for me. Once I apply it using my fingers, it sort of washes or fades away, like when you go to bed still wearing makeup and the next day you wake up and it's smudged; definitely its high pigmentation doesn't translate that way at least for me, maybe you can try to build it up to make it a little more saturated. But one thing that's true is that it does last all day; although I'm not so sure if it lasts 24 hours because, lets face it, who needs their makeup to last 24 hours? I guess what they're trying to do is to make you think "well if it lasts for 24 hours, it'll be good enough for maybe 16 hours!". And that's actually right.

Another thing: I've hear many beauty bloggers say that this works great as an eye shadow primer, but honestly, if I would've wanted a primer, I would've bought a primer.

The rest of the colors are very pretty and the fact that the one I got is matte and the other ones are very shimmery, makes me think that the rest might be better; specially wanna try the Bad to the bronze one (love the name) :)

To sum up: it's not that this shade or eye shadow is bad, it's just that form me, it was... blah, nothing special. I wanna wait until I try a different color to have a final saying on these babies; hopefully it'll be better!

If you have tried them, tell me, how did you like them?

Besitos! ;)
